New video resources for more inclusive community radio

Our new video resources are for community stations wanting to start Radio Reading programs and to welcome new volunteers with disabilities.

We also hope they’ll inspire people with a vision impairment to get involved in community radio.

We talked to people working at Radio Reading Network stations, and at other community radio stations that have worked hard at being inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities – Melbourne’s 3CR and SYN.

They shared information and learnings on topics including:

  • Accessibility and braille labeling at a radio station
  • Managing volunteers to produce a Radio Reading program
  • How to include more people with disabilities in community radio
  • Being a radio producer with a vision impairment

RPH Australia is working to close the information gap in Radio Reading services for people with a print disability living in regional and remote Australia. We also want to increase the representation and involvement of people with a disability in community media.
