Holding on to Hope

In a new partnership with Lifeline Australia, Vision Australia Radio (VAR) is airing episodes of the podcast series Holding on to Hope across its radio network.

Holding onto Hope shares the stories of people who have come through the darkness of suicidality and the connection that gave them hope to continue living.

The series aims to help people who are experiencing depression or anxiety and also those who might be supporting someone, such as a loved one or a friend, in similar circumstances.

Those featured discuss a range of lived experiences including coming-out, gender transitioning, surviving bushfires and tackling depression.

“As a reading print radio service, it is our job to present news and current affairs to our listening audience daily. People turn to radio in times of need and what we are experiencing currently as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds is no exception to this rule” said Vision Australia Radio Manager, Conrad Browne.

“Although news around Coronavirus is essential for us to present, too much of this content can take its toll to both presenters and listeners. The series reminds people that there is hope even in times of disaster and challenge.”

VAR will be airing episodes of the podcast in its services in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, regional Victoria, Albury and Darwin.

Holding on to Hope airs 6pm Tuesdays across Victoria & Perth. Check your local program guide for the Adelaide broadcast.

Lifeline Australia and Vision Australia Radio are grateful to all Holding on to Hope participants for choosing to share their personal lived experience openly and courageously in order to offer hope and inspiration to others

Please note that suicidality and its contributing factors are discussed in this series and may have a triggering effect.
